The third section of the preces today might be a bit confusing and the English translation is no help at all:
Hunc diem tibi tamquam oblatiónem consecrámus,
dum nos nihil pravi factúros aut probatúros pollicémur.
– Mane nobíscum, Dómine.
We consecrate this day as an oblation to you, while we promise neither to do, nor approve anything depraved. Abide with us, O Lord.
